Is France a
country of free speach anymore?
This week reporters sans frontiers
published their annual survey for the freedom of the press. This
years survey shows France
only ranked 35 below Mali,
Francehas now lost 5 places between
the election of Nicolas Sarkozy and now!
Well it is not a surprise when he
changes the law to ensure that the president can nominated the candidate for
future head of Francetelevision (equivalent of our
BBC) with a lowest level of support the government managed to pass this law this
week.
Imagine the same in
the UK if Prime Minister was able to
change the head of the BBC to suit his political ends? I don't know any other
democratic country to have reached such a low, and the French so long a proud
defender of the rights of humanity, now falling rapidly behind of others
countries more open to rights for minorities, gays and the press.
Examples of the views expressed in his government, include the member of
the national assembly that gay people are not normal and inferiors and need to
be cured! No action was taken against Mr Vanesse, who is still
part of this party and don't forget Madame Boutin another member senior member
of the UMP, and an actual cabinet member of the government who
appeared on her knees at the assembly with to coerce and beg members not to vote
the law that gave recognition for gay people. During the law for the PACS votes
by the socialist party when there were elected, the PACS provides (By today’s
standards) minimum rights for gays, and shows a very real level of
discrimination between gays and heterosexual in France, the country of rights
for Humanity.
So why France
is loosing places in freedom of press, well it is not that surprising, once
again with the interpolation of journalists and media in an excessive way, the
control of the media, privates channels and newspapers the majority of who are
openly pro Sarkozy, and now with the public television also under the control
of M. Sakozy. I tell you I am glad we are going to see him less of him from the
end of December, as his European tour president ends.
Homophobia, control of media,
discrimination, retiring at 70! and so on...
Vive la
France, you are not free
anymore!
