Alicante doesn’t have a harsh climate and is perfect for a sun and sand vacation. The beaches are full of life, through out the year. One can enjoy long sandy beaches or there are also isolated bays, if you want to have some peace around you. The coast of Alicante and Costa Blanca owe its name to the beaches stretching for several kilometres that attracts many tourists.
San Juan Beach
Other than the summer months, the San Juan beach is a very quite and undisturbed during the remaining part of the year. Stretching as long as 7 kms in length, the width of the beach spreads to about 85 meters. Food and enjoyment are in plenty as the coastline is lined with bars, cafes and restaurants. Alicante makes sure that good services are offered to the tourists visiting the beach, such as toilets, watchtowers, a Red Cross post, tourist information, water sports equipment and special aid for the handicapped. The beach is easily accessible by car, bus or railway.
Explanada d'Espanya
Explanada d’Espanya is an extending part of the yacht harbor, includes a promenade of mosaic sidewalks under the palms. All the boulevards are clean and lined with unlimited shopping options.
Saladares - Urbanova Beach
Located in a residential part of southnmost Alicante, the Saladares-Urbanova Beach is a long one measuring 1600 meters in length and 50 meters in width. Tourists have been offered services such as beach patrol, lifeguards, toilets, foot showers, watchtowers and parking facilities. Saladares-Urbanova has been awarded the Blue Flag by the European Union.
Isla de Tabarca
Tabarca is located off the Cabo de Santa Pola at a distance of 11 nautical miles from the city of Alicante. This is the only inhabited island in the Autonomous Community of Valencia. The main beach on the island, Levante Beach, is approximately 250m in length. The water surrounding the island have been officially declared a Mediterranean marine nature reserve. The biggest attraction is the transparent and quality of sea water. The beach patrol and lifeguard services are operational during Easter and between the 1st July and the 15th September.
Albufereta Beach
To the northwest of Alicante lies the Albufereta Beach. Located in a residential area, it is flocked by many tourists during the summer season. Beach services are available only for the Holy Week and during the peak season of summer. Services include lifeguards, Red Cross post, watchtower, foot showers, toilets and parking facilities. The beach is easily accessible by car via the A-190 road, by bus or by train. Another nearby attraction that is noteworthy is the Almadraba Beach.
Almadraba Beach
The easiest way to get from Alicante to this beautiful beach is by car via the A-190 road known as the carretera de la cantera, or by bus or by trenet (narrow-gauge railway) or tram.
It is smaller in size than the other beaches; the residents of the surrounding complexes use it. Almadraba offers the perfect environment for water sports enthusiasts or those preferring a gentle swim.
The coves of Cabo de las Huertas
The coves of Cabo de las Huertas beach lie between the coasts of San Juan and Albufereta. Located in a residential, peaceful area, the coves are a must see. Diving is possible in most of the coves but the rockier coves of Cala de los Judios and Cala Cantalares are more suitable and interesting. The beach is accessible by both car and bus.
Postiguet Beach
The coast of the Postiguet Beach is lined with palms making it look outstandingly beautiful. Located right in the city centre, the beach is cleaned daily and ample services are offered to the visitors at the beach. A strip of beach named Playa del Cocó had been recovered during development work near the coastal railway that runs between Alicante and Denia.
