When you go on holiday you wish to keep in touch with your loved ones, sharing pictures and comments, these days it is more and more frequent that we travel with laptops, as the internet becomes part of our daily needs. The first thing I checked before travelling to the Canary Islands was to find out the availability of wireless in my hotel. Previously we knew of Wavenet Canaria, who launched this service to provide wireless connections to the whole of the Canaries archipelago, inclusive Gran Canaria.
When you arrive in the resort, you must check if the signal is strong enough before paying for the service, which costs 6 Euros per day, or 28 euros for 2 weeks. In our case unfortunately the signal was not strong enough to allow us to get a permanent connection. By moving around the complex we were able to find better connection at different times of the day. Various attempts to contact the Technical support of Wavenet to express our concerns was in vain, and we would not recommend the service if you need to actively work. The service is reasonable if you only want to use it for email, and light surfing. Hopefully this service will improve in the future, as it is a highly commendable initiative to spread this service throughout the islands. Especially as it allows you to take you connection with you to various locations.
