Gran Canaria Airport is Spain's fifth busiest
airport and by far the busiest airport in the Canary
Islands. Over 10.2 million passengers and 116,239 flights passed
through the airport in 2008 with over two million of those passengers going to
and from other Canary Islands.

Las Palmas airport is known as Aeropuerto de Gran Canaria in Spanish and in German it is Gran Canaria
Flughafen. Zone A deals with all EU flights, Zone B deals with all
other International flights and Zone C handles all inter-island traffic. You
will also find a VIP lounge in the Departures area which can be used for free
by Business Class passengers or for a fee of around €15 for any other
passengers.
Getting into Town
Taxi: Taxis are available from stands outside the Arrivals
areas of all three zones.
Bus: There are frequent bus services between the airport and
the capital, as well as other destinations on the island. Bus no.60 runs to Las Palmas for Parque de
San Catalina and Parque de San Telmo. Bus no.66 runs to Faro de Maspalomas. Bus
services depart from outside the Arrivals halls of zones A and C. For more

Car Parking
Short- and long-term parking is available in front of the
terminal building in some 1,917 parking spaces.
Information Desks
Information desks are located on level 1 of the airport in
all three zones and there is a tourist information helpline (tel: +34 (0)928
579 130). The Gran Canaria Tourist Board has a tourist information point in the
EU Arrivals hall (Zone A), with tourist information and maps available (tel:
+34 (0)928 574 117).
Airport Facilities
Money and communications: There is a bank on the ground
floor of Zone A and ATMs on the first floor. There are bureau de change in the
EU Arrivals hall and in the check-in halls on the ground floor. There is a post
office in the International Arrivals hall. An Internet café is situated after
security on the first floor of EU Departures (Zone A).
Eating and drinking:
There are coffee shops, bars and
fast-food stands on both the Arrivals and Departures floors; a 24-hour deli is
located in Zone A (before security).
Shopping:
Shops at the airport include a duty-free shop,
clothes shop, sportswear shop, toy and sweet shop, several gift shops, a
leather goods shop, a florists, a jewelers, a clothing accessories shop, an
electrical goods and music shop, and a mini supermarket.

Lost property offices are located in all zones

Other facilities:
There is a 24-hour medical service, a
pharmacy, baby rooms, a children’s play room, a chapel and several travel
agencies and tour operators.
Airport Hotels
There are no hotels at the airport although the four star
hotel Vecindario Aeropuerto Gran Hotel (tel: +34 (0)902 172 182) is situated
five minutes south of the airport. Other nearby hotels include the Reina
Isabel, Tryp Iberia,
Quality Hotel Fataga, Hotel Concorde, AC Gran Canaria, Santa Catalina Hotel and
the NH Imperial Playa. Hotel reservation desks can be found in the Arrivals
hall.

Facilities
There are elevators and ramps in the terminal for disabled
access. Disabled parking spaces are provided on each level of the parking lot.
Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their
airline prior to travel.
Airport Conference and Business Facilities
A conference room is located in the corridor connecting the
International and the EU check-in halls. The Sala Galdos VIP lounge is situated
on the terrace of the second floor, above the EU Departures lounge; there is
also a press lounge on the first floor between Zones B and C.

They operate 3 flights per week during the winter season and
increase the number of flights in spring and summer season.

British Airways : BA did not renew the
franchise with GB AIRWAYS on these
routes and so they are now operated by easyJet .

Gatwick in the winter season with an
Airbus A320 or A319.
The aircrafts interior is still as GB AIRWAYS previous operator, which means more leg room and a often a more friendly and professional
